GRAB A PIECE OF GIANTS STADIUM HISTORY AS THE WRECKING BALL STARTS TEARING IT DOWN
NEW YORK – While the finishing touches are being made on the new Meadowlands Stadium, fans have the chance to keep memories of the old Giants Stadium through auctions being held at Steiner Sports. By logging on to www.steinersports.com, fans can bid on all sorts of keepsakes—from stadium signs to seats—from the former home of the Giants and Jets.
“SIGN SIGN EVERYWHERE A SIGN”– Some memorable signage of the old Giants Stadium are still available through auction, such as the “Giants Stadium” sign that sat at the top of the building, the “Play Like a Jet” sign that hung above the equipment room, as well as signs autographed by Lawrence Taylor including: Section 121, 125, 321, 325 and a “Restricted Area” sign. Gate signs, locker room signs, and many more are also listed.
In addition, there are still pieces of turf, seats, autographed memorabilia, lockers, and other unique pieces of Giants Stadium history still up for bidding. Seat backs signed by football greats like Eli Manning, Lawrence Taylor, Marty Lyons, Joe Klecko, and Brandon Jacobs are all available for auction. There’s also items made from game-used turf, goal posts and yard-markers. Commemorative Final Game ticket collages for both the Giants and Jets are available. Bidding on all items ends on April 25th.
“How cool is it to be able to sit in a seat from Giants Stadium in your office or home,” said Brandon Steiner. “To own those chairs, or a piece of the turf or goal post, is special for every Jets and Giants fan.”
New Meadowlands Stadium
Upon completion in April 2010, the New Meadowlands Stadium will boast a seating capacity of 82,500. Spectators of all sports will be treated to game-day experiences unlike any other, and have the ability to take in on-field action live and on four massive 30 x 118 foot HD video display boards located in each of the stadium corners. Additional highlights include a 48″ x 2200′ ribbon board that circles the interior bowl, adding color and energy to the already spirited atmosphere; 2100+ HD Monitors placed throughout the stadium; and 20 HD video pylons outside the stadium ranging in size from 20”X40” to 20”X60.”
Outside the stadium, fans will be treated to a 350,000-square-foot outdoor plaza filled with fan-centric activities and pregame entertainment zones. A signature amenity of the stadium will be the brand new rail line that will drop off passengers directly in front of the stadium — the total trip from New York’s Penn Station will take less than 20 minutes.
