Whats It Worth?, YES Network To Debut Memorabilia Show

YES Network
October, 2002

YES Network - What's a 78 RPM recording of Joe DiMaggio giving hitting tips worth? How about a football signed by Vince Lombardi and the entire Green Bay Packers team that won the first Superbowl? The answer to these and many other fascinating questions will be answered on the YES Network's new series, "WHAT'S IT WORTH?". This original signature series is hosted by Andrea Joyce, who will be joined on the debut show by sports memorabilia expert, Brandon Steiner, of Steiner Sports Marketing, Inc., and Alan "Mr. Mint" Rosen. The first edition of "WHAT'S IT WORTH?" will air Saturday, November 2, 2002 at 10pm, directly following the New Jersey Nets game.

In announcing the first of at least eleven episodes of the new show, YES Chairman and CEO, Leo Hindery, Jr., said, "We are delighted to provide the YES Network audience with this latest addition to our diverse original programming schedule. We are convinced that "WHAT'S IT WORTH?" will be entertaining and informative for our viewers."

"WHAT'S IT WORTH?" will feature amateur and professional collectors talking about their unique pieces of sports history and about the personal stories behind their prized possessions, which in some cases are more priceless than the items themselves. Memorabilia prices on the opening show range from $15-$25,000, and include items such as a baseball signed by the entire Boston Braves team from the 1914 World Series ($17,000), the oldest type of its kind. Other objects include a Babe Ruth flip book from 1931 ($500), a signed record entitled "Little Johnny Strikeout" which features Joe DiMaggio giving hitting tips ($400), and a signed football from the entire 1965 Green Bay Packers Superbowl team including Coach Vince Lombardi ($5,000), with a fascinating story all its own.

Also featured on the premiere episode is Mariano Rivera, who reveals to Brandon Steiner what important items he's saved and, maybe more importantly, given away.

This episode is the first in a series that also will include tips on sports collecting for both the beginner and the expert.
