Managing that relationship is something you need to schedule; make sure you build it into what you do every day.
Have you taken the time to think about what your boss wants from you and why? Put yourself in their shoes and you’ll better understand the types of challenges and pressure they’re going through (and why sometimes that pressure is passed on to you).
What about your other boss- your parents! Kids have become less and less respectful of the work that their parents put in to raise them. When was the last time you said thank you? Don’t forget that your parents aren’t there forever.
When your boss needs something done, or has a question for you, you should be jumping at the opportunity help them get what they need. Take a look at your best customer- you run circles for them when they ask for something, right? That’s because they make or break your business. The same should be done for your boss. For any authoritative relationship you have in your life, whether your boss at work or your parents at home, you have to put work into it because when you least expect it, your efforts will pay off!
