I was working out with my trainer recently. Told him how I ‘ve been working out and eating right, but that I felt like I hit a wall.
First thing he told me was “What got you here won’t get you there.”
That was my first phase, he explained, but you have to change it up.
A lot of times in business the same concept applies. A certain technique may get you somewhere, but to get to the next level, the same old routine is not going to get you off the plateau and back up the mountain.
It’s true in a lot of ways. Maybe you’re really good at pitching new business and acquiring a new client, but you could use work developing that relationship once you have it.
The key is to always challenge yourself. If it’s your workout routine, do something you haven’t done before that your body isn’t used to. Break a sweat. If it’s in your professional life, figure out what you can do to exceed expectations.
You should always adhere to basic principles (eating healthy, working out, having a good product, having a great rapport with your clients, etc.), but don’t be afraid to challenge yourself to get to the next level of success.
